Eh da? You're a psychiatrist? you specialize in addiction wala eh? Wow! I'm a former heroin addict by the way, just finished my 1st year mark... Just wanted to comment on this post and say its so ridiculous how they make addicts and addiction appear on TV and in movies. begad 7aga tef2a3... it gives u the impression that addicts are criminals and if ur an addict it takes away any hope of you ever becoming clean... I really believe they should focus on awareness and education when it comes to addiction in cinema or on tv especially since more and more young people are taking that road every day...

Hi, thanks for leaving a comment and congratulations on passing the first year mark, an important step. I did find your blog two days ago and I read some posts. You do write incredibly well.

Yes, I am a psychiatrist. I am at the moment working with general psychiatry patients. I did work in our addiction unit and might join it again any time in the future.

As for Egyptian TV, it is not much different than lots of things in the country and I think you are aware of this (I noticed that you are politically minded).

I wrote this comment when I was working in the addiction unit, somehow during that time, any time I open TV, read newspapers, etc.. I find it somehow discussing drugs.

It's really interesting to read the opinion of a former heroin addict. Congrats, i guess it was not easy at all to face this year in a drug rehabilitation program. I know it too, media is selling a different view whit regard to drug addicts, your comment is much more relevant for me.
