How to Blog Anonymously
Submitted by mostafa on Wed, 2005-04-27 18:15Or, how to survive censorship.
What is going on with Bahraini web publishers is sad. They [will be facing legal action|http://gulf-daily-news.com/Story.asp?Article=110287&Sn=BNEW&IssueID=28036] if they don't register their sites with the government, including sites hosted on servers outside Bahrain.
The good thing is; [Bahraini bloggers will do something about it|http://www.mahmood.tv/index.php/blog/1569].
What they are going to do will either back fire or provide them with the freedom they want. [We|http://www.egybloggers.com/], on the other hand, are entering a sensitive period. I am not sure if we will be always granted the level of freedom we have now. Our government did censor sites in the past.
I also have learned that there is an ISP reseller in Egypt that is blocking the [Egyptian Blogregator|http://manalaa.net/egblogs]. This was reported by [Boody|http://slashproc.net]. No one is sure if this is because the content of the aggregator or for other silly reasons. No one knows if this block was done by other ISPs, or not.
How to search the Egyptian Blogs
Submitted by mostafa on Mon, 2005-04-11 13:53Here is how to search the [Egyptian Blogosphere|http://egybloggers.com/]. I guess this would be very useful.
Go to [feedster advanced search|http://feedster.net/advanced.php], type your keyword and then add [this OPML file|http://www.manalaa.net/aggregator2/opml] in the space titled "Limit to feeds in this OPML URL".

__UPDATE__: the above photos is a bit old please use this url http://www.manalaa.net/aggregator2/opml
One more thing, feedster is a little bit strange. You will have to search every time from the Advanced search page.
Here are several examples:
*[khan|http://feedster.net/search.php?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&category=&q=khan&inrss=&inopml=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.manalaa.net%2Faggregator2%2Fopml¬inrss=&sort=date]
Blogsome is awesome
Submitted by mostafa on Fri, 2005-04-08 15:18Egyptian bloggers listen. You can now move away from blogger. Blogger is fine, there is nothing wrong with it, except that it has none of the features of a modern blog. And to add features, you have to subscribe to lots of third party services that transforms your blog to something similar to the back of a microbus.
Youssef
Submitted by mostafa on Fri, 2005-03-25 20:44[Youssef|http://youssef.foolab.org] is back. As usual his posts are very entertaining and smart. He also finds lots of surprises and hidden treasures. Boingboinged before for his [toilet roll holders research|http://www.devcabal.org/youssef/index.php?p=16]. You sure want to follow his rants and burps.
__UPDATE__: He moved again, I updated all links.

Free Mojtaba and Arash Day
Submitted by mostafa on Tue, 2005-02-22 18:09Iranian bloggers are awesome. There are almost 65,000 ''active'' blogs from an estimated 200,000. At such number any oppressive regime must be in terror, if it fears freedom of expression.
