Mobile Shop: Job opportunities are for men only

mobile shop logo

I receive wrong emails often. Sometimes they are funny but usually plain boring. I also receive around 5000 spam messages per week.

Today I received the following email from Mobile Shop HR department. They have two job opportunities. The first is something called "Sales Maker" and it seems to be gender specific. The other is called "Net woek Admin" and it requires, among a list of technical stuff, good command of English language.

Language issues aside. Is this sex limitation legal, specially when it is not a job that requires strenuous activity (and shouldn't they leave this for the person to decide)?

Mobile Shop runs 58 branches across Egypt.

How to listen to live streaming internet radio in your car

You can listen to live streaming internet radio if you have a mobile phone with a 3G connection. The phone should be able to run J2ME MIDP applications (most do). Download and install MFRadio. It is open source and free. MFRadio can only play Mp3 streams.

The second step is to be able to connect your phone to your car stereo. This is highly variable, so you will have to find this out on your own.

4 years of Gmail

Gmail logo

4 years passed today since I signed up for a gmail account. I received an invitation via Blogger. This was about 3 weeks after Google announced the 1GB inbox.

This secured my best email address:

At that time, this was a mindbogglingly huge webmail inbox. Yahoo! & Hotmail offered few MegaBytes for each user, as far as I can remember nothing more than 5MB.

Facebook sucks?

It is wrong to think that following your friends online will introduce you to new ideas, opportunities and information. However, if you spend the same amount of time reading other people ideas but following a certain topic that interest you. This will probably expose you to more information, viewpoints, ideas, etc..

twitter is down

Damn ... twitter is down. Tech addiction withdrawal. ok will do nothing in protest and go to sleep.

update: it's back.

Google maps mashups

Created mashups of several weblogs.

Your favourite cheap automated Egyptian blogs aggregator. BTW, not all posts appearing on the main page will be displayed on the map. The admin's favorited posts only, as there is no way I can find the RSS of the whole thing.

Global Voices Online

This one is pretty cool. Global Voices Online is a non-profit global citizens’ media project. Basicly a selection of what bloggers around the world are saying. Hand picked and refined.

تويطر .. التامجوتشي الجديد !؟

Twitter is cool

Twitter is a tumblelog. A cool one. You can add tiny posts from IM, SMS or web. With a social networking ability.

I like it, this is the kind of app I find more useful than IM to keep in touch with people. Simply telling people what's going on with me. Also cool when one reads those tiny posts after a year or so.

Blog is still alive

Well, some of you may have noticed that my blog was down for several days now. Even google cached the error message displayed by server.

google cache

I fixed it my self. Well, this comes as a development as I have always feared to learn MySQL administration and considering it something very alien to me. Well after a few minutes of googling I found that I had to drop the cache table as it was corrupt and recreate it. This post helped me recreate it. Later on i discovered that I only need to use the command truncate table cache;.

Instant Anonymity

If you don't want to end up like Abdolkarim and think that being anonymous is no easy feat. Check TorPark: ;:Download TorPark for your language, and put it on a USB Flash key chain. Plug it into any internet terminal whether at home, school, or public. Run Torpark.exe and it will launch a Tor circuit connection, which creates an encrypted tunnel from your computer directly to a Tor exit computer, giving the appearance of having the Tor exit computer's IP.

It is basically a pre-configured and ready to run version of Tor and Firefox on a flash drive.
