Last year, during protests against the attack on Gaza, a mixed group of demonstrators clashed with police. But when the alleged culprits were arrested in dawn raids, nearly all those taken were young Muslims
Last Friday a 19 year old man was sentenced to 1 year in a young offenders institute for simply throwing a bottle at the embassy gates, which actually missed and hit a police riot shield causing no harm. Although he recently got married, had aspirations of becoming a dentist and had great character references, the judge said that he wanted to make an example the case, thereby sending a clear message of deterrence to the rest of the community. The Muslim community in particular felt that they have been targeted and see this as a warning message not to take part in protests in the future, particularly against Israel. Three of the protesters have been imprisoned for 18 months, two for 24 months and another two for 30 …
In a statement on Friday published by the Palestine Today website, Ibrahim Ma'roof said that he was striped of his clothes an tied to force him to give information about Qassam leaders and the whereabouts of Israeli occupation soldier Gilaad Shalit who is being held by the Palestinian resistance.

I thought loads of people around the world were tweeting about Gaza, it was only a bunch of people who spammed Twitter to make it trend.

I have said before and I will repeat again that it is I believe Obama is a 3ars and this political masturbation is going no where. Obama mentions Gaza situation by the by and only in answer to one of the questions and as if nothing happened 5 months ago.
Gazamom's account
“An officer responsible for April 6 [strike] internet activity asked me very strange questions such as, 'Why do you blog? Why do you use the internet? Who in the Shebab 6 April movement is in a relationship? Who wants to get married?'”
The reason we’ve never heard about any of this, apparently, is that the US is not advertising the operations, the al-Bashir regime in Khartoum has declared a media blackout, and Egypt is respecting the blackout but keeping a close eye since this involves major arms traffic (it’s an old route, once used by the French poet Rimbaud) going through its territory. Today al-Shorouk said that an Egyptian intelligence agent visited the area to verify the issue.
Richard Falk, the UN Special Rapporteur on Palestinian Human Rights, argued recently, any attempt to view the two sides as "equally responsible" is an absurdity: one is a lightly-armed militia, effectively operating underground in occupied territory – the other the most powerful army in the region, able to pinpoint and pulverise targets with some of the most sophisticated weaponry in the world.
Fifteen Egyptian and foreign activists took part in a solidarity march for Gaza on Friday in the outskirts of Cairo. Carrying signs with messages like "break the siege" and "support the resistance," they walked from Ezbet El-Nakhl to the end of the Marg metro line.

Gad has connections with other disappeared or detained Gaza activists. According to a message sent out by Gad on the Jaiku instant messaging service on Feb. 3, he had taken part in a protest calling for the release of secretary general of the Labor Party Magdy Hussein with Ghad Party member Hossam Shehata outside the Cairo public prosecution office.

Activists, teachers, and students gathered outside the public prosecutor's office in downtown Cairo today to demand the release of Philip Rizk, who was detained by state security yesterday after a police crackdown on a solidarity March for Gaza.
15 activists walk for Gaza before being stopped by state security for four hours.
This white Suzuki microbus took Philip Rizk at the night of the 6th of February 2009 from the Abou Zaabal Police station in Qalyoubia to an unknown location. Possibly a state security headquarters in Cairo. The license placed was covered with a dark piece of cloth.
“The march is a reminder of the continuing suffering in Palestine, which is a political problem — we don’t want to join the humanitarian bandwagon,” said Rizk, adding that 85 percent of Gazans rely on aid.
Ezzeldeen Abu al-Aish, a 55-year-old gynecologist who speaks Hebrew after training in two Israeli hospitals, sobbed as he reported the deaths [of his three daughters] shortly after an Israeli shell struck his home in the northern town of Jebaliya on Friday.

The most poignant moment in the film — and its masterstroke — are scenes of a wedding party complete with guests, cake, music and bride. The only thing missing is the groom himself: he is studying in Spain and has not been permitted to reenter Gaza. The families decide to go ahead with the wedding anyway, an act of defiance and desperation. There is perhaps no more powerful symbol of Gaza's plight than this, the abandoned bride of Palestine sitting alone and surrounded by well-wishers unable to do a thing to help her.
