Advice for Registrars (Part 2)
This is part 2 of a post with some basic advice for psychiatry registrars that I send out every year. Read the first part here.
For Journal Club Presentations 🔬
- 🚫 Don't write the name of your supervisor on your slides if they didn't review your presentation.
- 😍 Ask your supervisor to review your presentation ahead of time.
- ✉️ Don't surprise your supervisor. Inform them about your presentation few days in advance.
- 🔬 When critiquing an article, mention the date, journal, author and any conflicts of interest.
For Case Presentations 🩻
- 👍 Patients MUST consent to the case presentation.
- 🪪 Follow the institution's policy on using patients' names on your slides.
- 🎙️ Ask yourself if interviewing the patient during the case presentation is necessary for the diagnosis or management of the case. This minimises patient's distress and shows that you value their privacy.
- 🏥 Present more outpatient cases to enhance your learning experience.
