The private museum of the late potter Nabil Darwish will be demolished in the next few days to make way for a highway exit. Darwish is one of the most important pottery artists in Egypt.

This is another episode in the government's war against our city through rapid expansion of roads and highways at the expense of poor people's homes and cultural centers.

Early this year, the main building of Darb 1718, an art and culture center, was demolished for a similar reason.

According to official statistics, less than 5% of Egyptians own cars.
