JC says that that he received two emails informing him that three main opposition websites are now blocked by the government. Users of the main ISPs (Linkdotnet, Tedata and Raya) in Egypt cannot have any access to these sites anymore.
These websites are: * Save Egypt Front * Masreyat * Egyptian Talks
The Ikhwan website is still accessible, which was blocked in 2005. I think blocking an Ikhwan site now is harder than it used to be. The …
Alaa reports that armed state security forces detained the Egyptian journalist Ahmad Abdollah "Abo Islam". They broke in to his house on Monday. Five bloggers visited him and knew from his son that state security forces threatened his family at gun point and confiscated computer hard drives, CDs and books. I found Noura, Mohammed, Amr and Ahmed. I was introduced to …
The following graphics would better exist in the public domain. I volunteered to do a single poster after Nora asked, but it turned out to be several posters. They made an excellent impact today at the protest. They were all created with Inkscape graphics software which is a free/open source application that works on both windows and GNU/Linux. It is a very easy to use graphics application.
I attached the original SVG so …
This is an excellent example of an on-line response to a tragedy. Collecting all information and accounts in one blog. Reminds me of the tsunami blog. I think we need to repeat this as soon as something happens. It is better to use our tools to bring things under one blog (or wiki), that will also serve as a scrapbook documenting the event, help people know more and access the information easily without following different …
"An imminent change in the leadership of the Egyptian security services is expected ..."
"...the most senior national security directors are expected to resign or be replaced, possible along with the interior minister, Habib al-Adly."
I hate them all on a personal level. But I would loved to see them go away with peacful dissent that comes from us. And not from …
